Conclusion (Recommendation)

This is an excellent product that addresses wear comfort while retaining the original's charm, confidently recommended to a wide audience.

BQEYZ Winter is absolutely a fantastic pair of headphones!

I also adore them and still keep them stored away so I can pull them out anytime!

On the other hand, these headphones are more suited for audiophiles!

This headphone is a memorable pair, combining massive DD and piezo tweeters to achieve unparalleled realism and the precision of piezo tweeters, but it's definitely not for everyone!

Because of this, my impression is that about half of those who try these headphones end up not buying them due to incompatibility.

Interestingly, even if you try them on, they can't fully convey the full presence and clear sound quality of the piezoelectric tweeter. This design is quite unique—only those who understand it and whose ears fit it can truly master it! Some rave about the Winter, while others simply don't grasp its appeal. It's certainly impressive, but some can't even begin to evaluate it, finding it seemingly inaccessible!

But what if—just what if? What if the sound quality remained unchanged, but the wearing comfort improved? What do you think would happen?

Hehe! Did you buy headphones? Time to check out Fugu Mikan's review!

This time, our BQEYZ Winter shocks competitors in its price range with its unique combination of a 12mm dynamic driver and piezoelectric bone conduction unit. Now it's evolved from a niche headphone into one anyone can wear!

Compact and lightweight, this model builds upon the original Winter's sound signature with refined enhancements. Significant changes in specs or audio processing for Pro or second-generation models often leave longtime users thinking, “This isn't quite what I expected!” Honestly, that's pretty much the norm for domestic headphones.

So when I say this is truly Winter's successor, I suspect expectations weren't high. But I assure you: Winter2 is undeniably Winter's successor—and a significantly improved one.

Sound quality wasn't Winter's weakness, nor did it have any flaws. Its biggest drawback was simply not being universally comfortable. This model abandons Winter's design flaws: protruding ears, off-center balance, and excessive weight.

The Winter required considerable effort to wear comfortably, whereas this model completely resolves its biggest flaw—poor grip—transforming it into a pair that sits effortlessly.

Both models feature aluminum alloy housings. While the Winter 2 uses the same material, its weight is engineered to be under 5 grams—roughly the threshold where headphones begin to feel noticeably heavier or lighter.

Typically, reducing headphone weight alters shell resonance patterns, weakening bass output compared to the original. Additionally, diminishing internal volume affects bass and spatial presence, compromising overall sound quality. Yet this model defies that expectation, delivering a solid, powerful bass range with ample sub-bass and no noticeable gaps.

In fact, the crucial vertical and horizontal dimensions for driver accommodation have remained virtually unchanged since the first-generation Winter. Yet the thickness of the headphones—which significantly impacts the center of gravity during wear—has been markedly reduced. The ear cups feature a shallow, soft fit, allowing anyone to wear them for extended periods without discomfort.

As mentioned earlier, the weight reduction enables comfortable, long-term wear akin to monitoring headphones. However, your ears will sweat, so be sure to take breaks as needed.

Why is the Winter series so popular? Undoubtedly, it's due to its exceptional sound quality. The Winter2 faithfully carries forward the core elements of the Winter series—the massive 12mm dynamic driver and the bone conduction piezoelectric tweeter.

BQEYZ employs two bone conduction models: Winter uses a piezoelectric unit for high frequencies, while Wind utilizes a vibrating bone conduction unit for low frequencies, with the latter prioritizing volume. The Winter excels in handling low frequencies with its large DD driver, creating a rich, deep bass space that resonates more powerfully and expansively than a 10mm DD driver.

Many models using 12mm DD drivers either block too much sound, resulting in lightweight bass, or have poor sealing, leading to overly heavy bass. The Winter series, however, achieves bass that balances ample volume with refreshing clarity.

Despite its compact and lightweight design, the Winter2 excels in this regard, delivering a sense of presence even at low volumes—an effect that intensifies as volume increases. While the bone conduction unit's precise sound quality is a key selling point, its powerful low-frequency performance stands out as a major highlight. Winter, specifically this Winter2 model, demonstrates optimal performance among 12mm dynamic driver headphones.

Of course, Winter's appeal extends beyond its bass. While models with piezoelectric tweeters sometimes overemphasize treble, Winter's high-frequency range avoids any sense of exaggeration. Instead, it remains distinctly clear and well-differentiated.

This combination of highs and lows is impressive, but even more so is the vocal range, which delivers substantial detail without abrupt tonal shifts caused by driver interference.

Frankly, the highs and lows shine brightly here, offering a sense of extension without excess, while vocals arrive cleanly in the ears. With this accessory, the smoothness around vocals seems more pronounced than the previous generation, while the characteristic clarity of the piezo tweeter appears slightly subdued. However! This is largely due to differences in wearing experience caused by the accessory cable and host shape, while the Winter 2 itself possesses immense potential.

For my setup, I swapped the earpieces for TRN T earbuds and upgraded the cable to silver-plated single-crystal copper. This combination delivers superior high-frequency extension, allowing me to impart the Winter 2 with the crisp high-frequency range and spatial presence I experienced with the original Winter—a hallmark of piezoelectric tweeters!

In other words, in this state, the Winter 2 is the ideal Winter series—all the weaknesses of the original Winter have been completely eliminated!

Since only those who gave high praise to the previous Winter version can understand the “same as the previous version” assessment, we'll summarize the sound quality evaluations for each version separately.

Winter 2's sound perfectly blends three key elements: clear highs, distinct layering, and well-balanced vocals, paired with deep, expansive bass that feels rich and full, immersing you in a substantial acoustic space. If you desire more powerful piezo tweeter performance or deeper bass impact, you can customize the ear tips and cable to better unlock each element's potential. This will make you fall in love with these headphones. The more you use them, the more you'll appreciate their sound quality.

I prefer brilliant resolution, so I use premium cables and TRN T ear tips. The stock cable features replaceable connectors. When swapping connectors, the gold-plated terminals get compressed once, which I feel results in slightly softer vocals. Therefore, opting for stiffer cables yields superior sound quality.

If you seek the crisp sound signature reminiscent of previous-generation piezoelectric headphones, this cable significantly enhances that character. Additionally, I believe avoiding cables that weaken the low frequencies yields the best overall sound.

That said, this headphone's design doesn't prioritize bass, so volume isn't overwhelming except for tracks with deep bass. Yet when playing heavy bass drums in home music, the entire space becomes weighty. Even when bass dominates, the space never feels cramped, letting you enjoy the rich sound unique to 12mm dynamic drivers.

Fundamentally, the balance is excellent across the board except for specific emphasis on certain elements. Yet when you seek excitement, these headphones exceed expectations. The three core elements are so well-balanced that even in densely layered tracks, each component remains clearly traceable. This makes them truly shine when used in such demanding scenarios.

The Shorts video for the previous album Winter went viral, touting the tagline “You'll hear sounds you weren't meant to hear.” That claim remains true today. Winter2 clearly separates all tonal layers, especially when multiple sounds overlap and highs and lows are evenly distributed, allowing you to track each component.

Moreover, it avoids the dry, clinical sound typical of dedicated monitoring headphones designed solely for tracking. Instead, it delivers a rich, engaging sound. Its superb tuning and unique configuration inherit the Winter series' signature traits while ditching the bulky, unshapable housing that caused many to abandon the series.

These are unmistakably Winter2 headphones. Accessories are standard, but interchangeable cables and other features clearly signal the product meets current benchmarks.

The main unit itself has no weaknesses, but as mentioned earlier, if you're upgrading from a previous model customized for enhanced piezo tweeter clarity, be mindful that cables and other accessories may need replacing.

So, this is a product I can recommend without reservation. The previous model was genuinely frustrating and unsuitable for some, making it impossible to recommend! But this iteration's aesthetics are entirely commendable, and it masterfully solves the tricky problem of maintaining sound quality while changing the appearance!

It's safe to say this is a brilliant sequel that thoroughly incorporates feedback from previous users while preserving the strengths of its predecessor wherever possible! I'm extremely proud to recommend it!

That's all for today! I didn't expect to spend 10 minutes just discussing the device itself without touching on accessories...! But this is absolutely a piece of equipment I can confidently recommend! Highly recommended!
