The BQEYZ Wind is a fascinating piece of audio engineering that ultimately feels more like a successful experiment than a practical long-term investment.
On a technical level, there is a lot to admire, particularly the integration of the bone conduction driver. Unlike many marketing gimmicks, this technology actually delivers a tangible, physical texture to the bass and lower mids that most traditional IEMs simply can't replicate. Combined with the semi-open housing, the result is a remarkably wide and holographic soundstage that feels more like a pair of open-back headphones than an in-ear monitor. For anyone who prioritizes natural, warm vocals and a sense of "air" in their music, the Wind performs exceptionally well.
However, despite these clear sonic strengths, I wouldn't find myself purchasing them a second time. The very features that make them unique also make them frustratingly impractical for daily use. The semi-open design means isolation is almost non-existent; I can hear my surroundings too clearly, and those around me can often hear my music, which effectively rules them out for commuting or office use.
Furthermore, the bone conduction effect is extremely dependent on a perfect, tight fit against the ear cartilage. This makes them a "fit diva," requiring constant micro-adjustments to maintain that specific sound signature.
When you add the fact that they really need a dedicated DAC or amplifier to move beyond a flat, uninspired sound, they become a high-maintenance choice in a price bracket filled with more versatile and convenient alternatives. It was a great experience to try something different, but for my next pair, I’d prioritize a more consistent and practical "all-rounder" over this experimental charm.
I had just purchased the Kiwiears Quintet, but I was so captivated by the power of bone conduction that I couldn't resist buying these. This is a subjective review, but to sum up, the vocal resolution, clarity, and transparency are excellent. That said, the high and low frequencies aren't inferior at all, and the midrange is particularly impressive. I love female vocals, so this purchase was a great choice. I also listened to songs with male vocals, and the impression was unwaveringly excellent. I like the Quintet because of its vibrant high frequencies that seem to extend endlessly, but I feel the Wind has a better overall balance. I feel that re-cabling is unnecessary unless you have very specific requirements. They produce a good enough sound. I recommend choosing earpieces that provide a tight fit with the bone conduction unit (I use Korail, and I think they work well. I also tried the Spiral Dot++, but the fit wasn't as good for my ears). I hope this helps you decide which earpiece to buy.
It was easy to listen to for the price
I'm surprised! I also own the Winter model, and it fits perfectly in my ears. While it doesn't have the high-pitched sparkle of the Winter model, the Wind model has a thick vocal sound. I was surprised to hear that this is what happens when bone conduction is applied to the midrange. However, I think the construction is poor. The left-side shell seems to be about to crack. It went back to its original shape when I pressed it with my finger. (^_^;) So, I'll give it a minus two.
No 1 star, no devices that fit the plug
